On April 23, the Akmola Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Magzhan Zhumabayev hosted the closing ceremony of the Kitap avenge festival "Kitap – ulttyn rukhani tiregi", dedicated to the National Book Day.
National Book Day is celebrated for the first time in the Republic of Kazakhstan on April 23, 2025. This new holiday date appeared in connection with the instruction of the Head of State given at the main session of the third National Kurultai in order to form a high culture of reading in society. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at the kurultai, stressed the importance of the love of books and noted that many countries have introduced national days dedicated to reading and books. “First of all, we must instill in young people a love of reading. This is the only way we will become a reading nation,” the president said, emphasizing the importance of this cultural aspect.
This important event is designed to inspire people of all ages to read, promote the development of culture and improve literacy in the country. This holiday is designed to draw attention to libraries and books, and will also encourage many people to spend more time reading.
In this regard, starting from April 16, all libraries in the region will host reading contests, book caravans, bibliocafes, as well as biblionach, bibliofest, open days, literary evenings, open-air playgrounds and much more.
The Akmola Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Magzhan Zhumabayev, which is the largest library in the region, hosted the Kitap avenge decade, the Kitap - ulttyn rukhani Tiregi festival, from April 14 to 23.
The festival program includes patriotic readings, literary evenings and interviews, a literary fashion show, promotion of books about national traditions and acquaintance with the designer, a literary discussion within the Lingva Room project, BIBLIO performanc, a video interview of book lovers
, and a reader's conference.
Today, the results of the events that delighted the library's readers during these 10 spring days were summed up: awarding those who succeeded in the nominations "Uzdik Okyrman-2025, "Permanent participant in the events of the decade."
The event consisted of two parts: a solemn and festive concert.
In the first part, the award ceremony was held in the nominations "Uzdik okyrman-2025, "Permanent participant of the decade's events." Letters of thanks were presented from the Head of the Department of Culture, Sabitova Aigul Baubekovna, and valuable gifts from the sponsors of the event: the Caseshop store.kokshetau and IP "Zhalgas". And then all the guests of the event were pleased with the concert program organized by the Akmola Regional Philharmonic named after Ukili Ibray.
