The SENAT OPEN qualifying tournament was held in Kostanay
On May 4, Kostanay hosted the qualifying tournament of the II Open Cup "SENATE OPEN", organized with the support of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Chess Federation of Kazakhstan.

The tournament is being held for the second year in a row with the aim of popularizing chess in the country. This year, a record participation was set – 35 deputies, including 9 chairmen of maslikhats, played in the qualifying stage.

The city of Rudny was represented at the tournament:
- Ruslan Urazalin, deputy of the Rudn city Maslikhat
- Deputy of the Rudn city Maslikhat – Igor Shishov
- Dana Kaleeva– Chief of Staff of the Rudn City Maslikhat
- Member of the city's Public Council – Anton Bokov
- Ex-deputy of the Maslikhats – Amanzhol Sagnaev

Following the results of the tournament, Ruslan Urazalin won a silver medal and became one of the 25 strongest participants who will compete for victory in the semifinals of the SENATE OPEN in Kokshetau. Last year, he became the winner of the regional stage and entered the top 10 of the semi-finals.
