The Hague, May 8, 2025 — The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Netherlands, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, held a meeting with Ms. Joanna Kuenssberg, Vice President for Corporate Relations in the Middle East, Africa, and Eurasia at Shell International, to discuss the current state and future prospects of a successful partnership with one of the largest foreign investors in Kazakhstan’s economy. The discussion focused particularly on new initiatives utilizing advanced technologies aimed at increasing efficiency and sustainability in the energy sector. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of sustainable development and emphasized the importance of training and professional development for Kazakhstani specialists. In particular, attention was given to supporting programs that promote the development of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) skills among local staff.
It was noted with satisfaction that over the past three decades, Shell has invested more than USD 18 billion in a broad range of oil and gas projects in the region, making a significant contribution to the modernization and long-term development of the industry. During the meeting, the parties identified further areas of cooperation, taking into account the interests of investors, Kazakhstan’s national economy, and regional development. As a result, it was agreed to arrange a visit to production facilities in the Netherlands to explore best practices that may be applied to joint projects.
