BEWARE: FRAUDSTERS DISGUISED AS GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS DECEIVE CITIZENS

Recently, fraud cases have become more frequent, in which attackers pose as government officials and use various schemes to gain access to personal data and financial resources of citizens.

Where attackers use social engineering methods, using psychological pressure, trust in official structures, and citizens' ignorance of the basics of digital security.

Over the past 4 months of this year, more than 8 thousand Internet scams have been registered across the country.

Most often, the attackers acted under the guise of representatives of banks, law enforcement agencies, cellular and postal operators, courier delivery, energy-saving, utilities, medical organizations, and so on.

One of the common schemes is that, under the pretext of non—existent problems with the tax service, such as an allegedly blocked account or a letter from the tax service, a citizen is offered to urgently make an appointment with the agency. To do this, the scammers allegedly help to book a queue online and ask you to dictate the code that comes to the phone via text message. In fact, this code is a confirmation of a banking transaction, and by communicating it, the person himself opens access to his accounts. As a result, scammers get the opportunity to steal all the funds.
