2nd "Central Asia - China" summit: the Almaty Charter was signed at KazNU
2nd International Forum of Academicians was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University within the framework of the 2nd "Central Asia - China" summit. The large-scale event was jointly organized by the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Xi'an Jiaotong University.
The purpose of the forum is to help solve current global challenges such as climate change, desertification, population growth and combating poverty through scientific research and the introduction of advanced technologies.
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University participated in the forum. Chairman of the Board - Rector Zhanseyit Tuymebaev, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akylbek Kurishbaev, Executive Vice President of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) Bi Zhaohun, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dinara Shcheglova, representatives of Almaty city administration, ministries, as well as scientists and experts in the field of energy from Central Asia and China participated.
KazNU Rector Zhanseyit Tuymebaev welcomed distinguished guests and participants and noted that the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping will visit Kazakhstan on June 16 at the invitation of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemeluly Tokayev. On June 17, the second Central Asia-China summit will be held in Astana, which will be attended by the heads of state of the region.
Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in a meeting with the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping last year:
"China is not only a close neighbor for us, but also a close friend and reliable partner tested by time."
For his part, Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China:
"I want to confirm that China considers relations with Kazakhstan from a strategic perspective and in a long-term perspective. China will always be a reliable pillar of Kazakhstan," he said.
"It is the high-level warm and trusting relations between the heads of state of Kazakhstan and China that have become a solid basis for our interaction today. Within the framework of this summit, academicians of the Academy of Sciences of Central Asia and China met today at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University," the rector of KazNU pointed out.
It should be noted that at the second session of the "Central Asia-China" Business Council within the framework of the summit of heads of state, Al-Farabi KazNU plans to sign three agreements.
The first - Between KazNU and China's TusHoldings Corporation, it is one of the leading institutions of innovative entrepreneurship in China. The document envisages the creation of a joint business incubator in the fields of DeepTech, digital and green technologies, biomedicine and artificial intelligence for the development of startups.
The second is the creation of a digital intellectual workshop "Huibo", which will be a modern educational and scientific platform.
The third is an agreement on the creation of a ground satellite station. This initiative will be an important step for the expansion of international cooperation and technological exchange in the field of space research.
Currently, KazNU has established close partnerships with 65 Chinese universities and organizations. The total number of foreign students from China is 1440 people. Also, international cooperation with Central Asian countries is actively developing, and 55 agreements have been signed with regional universities. Double degree programs and joint educational projects are successfully implemented in Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
"The purpose of today's forum is not only to exchange opinions, but to promote real cooperation aimed at deepening integration in the field of green technologies," said Zhanseyit Tuimebaev.
During the event, RK Akylbek Kurishbaev, president of the National Academy of Sciences, read a report.
"The first summit held in Xi'an in 2023 and the Xi'an Declaration adopted there opened a new era of interaction," he noted. - "This forum is a step to deepen integration. Kazakhstan has industrial and scientific potential and is an active organizer of the regional agenda on green transition issues. The National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan is always ready to support the development of scientific cooperation with China and Central Asian countries. This forum is an important step towards forming a unified scientific space. I am sure that our joint efforts will lead to the sustainable development of the region," said the president of the academy.
President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akylbek Kurishbayev proposed to create the Central Asian Biodiversity Council as a coordinating mechanism for the protection of biodiversity of Central Asia.
At the plenary session, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek presented a scientific report on the countries of Central Asia and China. The congratulatory letter to the community was read by the Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dinara Shcheglova.
"Today's event makes a significant contribution to the deepening of cooperation in the field of green energy, the implementation of the concept of "Green Silk Road", and the exchange of advanced technologies within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative. The strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China has reached a new level. Mutual trust and friendship between the heads of state is a solid foundation of the relations between the two countries. In this context, the forum held at KazNU is a clear manifestation of cooperation," the letter says.
Also, vice president of Xi'an University Bi Zhaohong, president of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanatbek Abdrahmatov and vice president of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Saidmuhamed Ibadov delivered congratulatory words.
During the forum Representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Xi'an Jiaotong University (PRC), National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kyrgyzstan International University and Samarkand State University (Uzbekistan) signed the Almaty Charter on cooperation in the field of green energy.
The work of the forum continued with thematic panel sections. The participants presented their developments, exchanged experiences and opinions on accelerating the process of transition to green energy.
