Athens, July 2, 2025 – The historical building of the Athenian Club hosted the Balkans & Black Sea Forum Executive Roundtable 2025, organized under the auspices of the Geo Routes Institute. The event brought together representatives from diplomatic circles, business, and expert communities to address issues of sustainable transport connectivity amidst shifting geopolitical dynamics.

During the session titled «IMEC: from potential to partnership» participants discussed prospects for establishing new international logistics corridors, including the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), and their interaction with existing routes such as the Middle Corridor (TITR), the Belt and Road Initiative, and the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC). Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing the resilience and reliability of global supply chains amid Middle East conflicts, instability of northern routes, and climate challenges.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Greece Timur Sultangozhin participated in the forum and emphasized in his remarks the strategic importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route as a crucial element of Eurasia’s transportation architecture. He informed participants about ongoing efforts by Kazakhstan and its partner countries to remove infrastructure bottlenecks, digitize procedures, and expand port capacities, including plans to increase the capacity of Aktau Port to one million TEU by 2035.

Highlighting the potential for cooperation with Greece in infrastructure modernization, implementation of green technologies, and the development of integrated logistics solutions, the Kazakh diplomat expressed readiness to strengthen partnership aimed at building resilient and mutually complementary transport corridors connecting East and West.
