Kazakh Student National Team Begins Participation in the Universiade in Germany

Duisburg, July 16, 2025 – The official opening ceremony of the Rhein-Ruhr 2025 Summer Universiade took place in Duisburg, located in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Frankfurt am Main participated in the event.
The Kazakh delegation is headed by Talgat Yeshenkulov, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Kairat Zakiryanov, President of the National Sports Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Universiade, organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) in cooperation with the Government of Germany and the authorities of North Rhine-Westphalia, is being held in several cities across the Rhine-Ruhr region from July 16 to 27, 2025. The event brings together more than 10,000 student-athletes from over 150 countries.
The national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan is participating in a wide range of sports disciplines, including athletics, judo, swimming, taekwondo, fencing, archery, and table tennis.
As part of the official program, Taubaldy Umbetbayev, Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, expressed his sincere support for the Kazakh delegation. In his address, he emphasized the importance of active student engagement in international sporting events as an effective tool for strengthening bilateral humanitarian cooperation, promoting the values of mutual understanding and solidarity, and advancing sports diplomacy on a global scale.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Frankfurt am Main will continue to prioritize support for Kazakh youth abroad, contributing to the strengthening of the country’s international image, expanding humanitarian ties, and promoting international cooperation in education, culture, and sports.
