According to information published on the official pages of the Shymkent akimat on July 21, 2025, large-scale modernization works are underway in the A. Askarov State Dendrological Park in Shymkent. With the support of the city akim and BI Group, modern playgrounds and sports grounds are being installed on the territory of the park. This initiative is an important project that, in addition to creating a comfortable living environment for residents, determines the direction of the city's ecological and social development.
It is especially noteworthy that the new infrastructure is being implemented in one of the most green areas of the city - in the arboretum. Here, not only playgrounds are provided, but also sports simulators for residents of different ages, recreation areas and shaded shelters. Most importantly, these complexes will allow children with disabilities to use them safely and with equal access. That is, a concrete and important step is being taken towards creating an inclusive society.
Dendropark is one of the main ecological and cultural symbols of Shymkent. Built in 1979, this park is a natural habitat for rare trees and plants, birds and animals. This territory, which covers an area of 117 hectares, preserves a rich and delicate balance of the ecosystem. Therefore, any construction and projects implemented here should be carried out in such a way that they do not harm the ecosystem, but rather support it.
The peculiarity of the project is that the artificial structures are made of environmentally friendly materials that do not harm the environment and are designed to be in harmony with the natural landscape of the area. According to representatives of BI Group, all the platforms are located in natural shaded areas, and the use of concrete and plastic is limited to the maximum. In addition, before the installation of each structure, an environmental assessment was carried out to ensure that it would not harm the rare plants of the park.
A number of improvements were made to the park before. For example, in 2018, the main paths and lighting system of the park were repaired. However, an inclusive approach was not considered at that time. Therefore, people with disabilities and children in wheelchairs could not fully use the park infrastructure. In 2022, several recreation areas and fountains were installed in the park, but they were made only for aesthetic purposes.
And this new project for 2025 is unique in its scale, social focus, and respect for the ecosystem. It is not just about landscaping, it is about creating equal opportunities for everyone in society and promoting the idea of living in harmony with nature.
If we consider the impact on the urban ecosystem, such projects — if implemented correctly — strengthen the connection between humans and nature, while maintaining ecological balance. Frequent contact between city dwellers and nature fosters an ecological culture and responsibility for the environment. In addition, regularly used areas reduce the centralized load on the park, i.e., people are dispersed to different parts of the park, reducing the pressure on plants and soil.
Another advantage of the project is that it can serve as a model for parks and green spaces in other parts of the city. If such inclusive, nature-friendly playgrounds and sports grounds were created in every park, this would significantly improve the ecological and social situation of Shymkent. In addition, it may also be important for ecotourism in the future.
In conclusion, the new playgrounds in the A. Askarov Dendrological Park are not just a playground for children, they are a project that represents a new stage in the development of the city, combining inclusion and ecological harmony. This initiative is renewing not only the beauty of the city, but also its spirit. Thanks to such projects, Shymkent is becoming a comfortable, caring and environmentally sustainable city.
