On August 7, 2025, in the settlements of Altyntobe and Yntymak, Abay district of Shymkent city, large-scale veterinary and preventive measures were organized to prevent highly dangerous infectious diseases of agricultural animals. During the event, veterinarians systematically vaccinated cattle, small livestock and horses, and disinfected stables. This step was taken to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and maintain the general health of livestock.
Farm animals are an important part of the food security and economic stability of the region. Therefore, maintaining their health is a common task not only of the veterinary service, but also of the entire society. The spread of infectious diseases not only reduces livestock productivity, but in some cases also poses a threat to human health. For this reason, planned vaccination and disinfection are essential for the sustainable development of rural communities.
This time, the event was organized on a large scale and was held with the participation of villagers. Animal owners were notified in advance, the date and place of vaccination were specified. Veterinary specialists examined each animal, vaccinated it with the necessary vaccine, and treated the stables with special solutions.
The veterinary service worked through special mobile teams. They traveled through the settlements, visiting each household individually. Cattle, small livestock and horses were vaccinated against various diseases. In addition, the internal and external surfaces of livestock barns and outbuildings were treated with biocidal solutions. This is aimed at destroying microbes and viruses and reducing the risk of infection.
Specialists strictly observed safety rules during disinfection and provided advice to villagers on maintaining the barns, ensuring cleanliness, and taking preventive measures.
During the event, livestock owners were explained the importance of constantly monitoring the condition of their animals. It was said that vaccination alone is not enough to prevent infectious diseases; it is also necessary to properly organize the feeding regimen, care, and living conditions of livestock. According to veterinary specialists, this will be effective only through the joint work of livestock owners and specialists.
In previous years, such vaccination and disinfection measures were often carried out seasonally and for a short period of time. Due to limited information efforts, some livestock owners were left out of the measures. In recent years, significant progress has been made in this direction:
- Events are held frequently and systematically;
- Mobile groups cover all small villages and settlements;
- Social media, district akimat announcements, and local activists are widely used to disseminate information;
- The vaccine stockpile is being prepared in advance and the delivery process is underway.
Previously, disinfection work was carried out mainly on large farms, but now small individual barns are also fully covered. This will significantly contribute to reducing the spread of the disease within the village.
The effectiveness of planned preventive measures is in preventing the outbreak of infectious diseases. Timely vaccination and disinfection protect villagers and livestock owners from financial losses, and the region from epizootic threats.
Such measures will reduce disease incidence, increase overall livestock productivity and viability, and improve the quality of agricultural products.
Experts noted the need to hold such events regularly and strengthen the public relations system. In the future:
- Strengthening awareness - using SMS messages, social networks, and local media to warn livestock owners in advance;
- Increase mobile teams to cover all farms in remote villages;
- Stabilize vaccine stocks — prevent seasonal shortages;
- Improving sanitary culture - introducing a system of regular training and consulting for livestock owners.
The vaccination and disinfection event held on August 7 is an important step for the Abay district of Shymkent. This will not only preserve the health of livestock, but also contribute to the economic stability of the region. Compared to previous years, there has been an increase in the level of organization, information and coverage. If such initiatives are continued systematically, the risk of infectious diseases will significantly decrease and will give impetus to the development of the agricultural sector.
