A round table discussion on changes in legislation related to punishments for drug crimes was held in the Department of the Penitentiary Service for the Almaty region and the Zhetisu region.

The event, chaired by Magnis Sabirov, Deputy head of the DUIS, was attended by a judge of the Alatau City Court, a representative of the specialized prosecutor's office, deputy heads of institutions and heads of special accounting departments.

During the meeting, the participants discussed amendments to article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The participants of the round table discussed the algorithm of follow-up actions in connection with the adoption of new amendments and their implementation in practice. Special attention was paid to the issues of social adaptation of young convicts after release in order to minimize the risk of their involvement in the criminal environment.

The event was held in a constructive atmosphere, and its results will be taken into account in further work on the implementation of changes in legislation
