At the Akorda Residence, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with school students who became winners and prizewinners at international academic Olympiads.
The event brought together 24 laureates, including 4 gold, 11 silver, and 9 bronze medalists in subjects such as chemistry, mathematics, physics, geography, informatics, and biology.
Addressing the young talents, the President congratulated them on their achievements and expressed his sincere appreciation. He noted that triumph at prestigious international competitions and the honor of raising Kazakhstan’s profile on the global stage represent outstanding accomplishments.
“To compete with hundreds and thousands of the strongest and emerge victorious at international Olympiads is no easy task. Thanks to your pursuit of knowledge, diligence, and perseverance, you have reached these heights. Talent is undoubtedly a gift, but without hard work it is not enough for success. One must nurture and fully apply one’s abilities. Every victory, every medal is the result of dedicated effort, relentless preparation, and persistence. I especially want to highlight the enormous contribution of your esteemed teachers, who helped unlock your potential,” the Head of State said.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to the teachers who mentored the prizewinners, noting that they are deserving of state recognition. The President also extended words of appreciation to parents who raised a generation with such high intellectual potential. He emphasized that Kazakhstan’s future lies in the hands of its creative and capable youth.
“Our flag is raised on the world’s sporting and cultural stages in honor of the victories of our young compatriots. The prestige of our country in education is also high. Since last year, our students have taken part in more than 30 international Olympiads and scientific contests, winning thousands of medals, including nearly 200 gold, over 300 silver, and about 500 bronze. These impressive results reflect the high quality of education in our country. We take pride in every student who has represented Kazakhstan abroad. I see in you the worthy citizens of our nation and am absolutely confident that you will make a significant contribution to Kazakhstan’s development,” the President added.
He further stressed that creating conditions for the comprehensive development of youth is one of the state’s priorities, with large-scale initiatives and programs being implemented in this direction.
“Schools of a new format, Keleshek mektepteri (‘Schools of the Future’), are opening across the regions. We are attaching great importance to raising the status of teachers. Young people who choose the path of science receive strong support. In particular, the Bolashak international scholarship has enabled thousands of our citizens to study at leading universities and research centers around the world. Today, many of them are making significant contributions to national development. Our task is to select the most capable and talented for this program, ensuring no random selection. Starting next year, winners of international Olympiads will have the opportunity to study under the Bolashak program. In this way, we will continue to provide comprehensive support to gifted and determined young people,” he underlined.
According to the President, the success of Kazakhstan’s youth at prestigious international Olympiads demonstrates the intellectual strength of the nation and the high potential of the younger generation.
“Our country needs scientists, engineers, teachers, doctors, and other highly qualified professionals. Specialists in artificial intelligence will be especially in demand. With innovation and high technology, we are laying a strong foundation for decades of progress. A strategic milestone is the construction of Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant, launched in cooperation with Rosatom. Just days ago, the official start of construction was announced. This power plant is not merely an energy facility but a symbol of scientific and technological progress. It does not yet have a name. Since it is our country’s first, I believe we can hold a nationwide competition for the best name. I invite you to take part and show your creativity—perhaps one of your suggestions will be chosen when we make the final decision,” the Head of State proposed.
The President also addressed the nation’s youth with words of encouragement.
“Today, our entire people are building a Just, Clean, and Safe Kazakhstan. This is not merely a political slogan but a strengthening of the very foundations of our statehood. We have embarked on this great endeavor for the sake of our youth, and we must see it through to the end. Its fruits will be enjoyed by you—the younger generation. I have deep faith in the youth of our country. I have often said that young Kazakhstani citizens are educated, thoughtful, talented, and hardworking. I am confident that all of you fully embody the title of Adal azamat—honest citizens. Be loyal to your homeland. You bring honor to our people worldwide as a nation of intellectuals. Walk boldly on the path of discovery and hard work. The new generation looks up to you—talented young people,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Head of State presented certificates for monetary awards to the medalists: 1500 monthly calculation indices (MCI) for gold medalists, 1000 MCI for silver, and 500 MCI for bronze.
