In 2025 we mark 80 years since the first nuclear test and remember more than 2,000 detonations that scarred lives and lands.

Established by UNGA resolution 64/35 at Kazakhstan’s initiative, this Day honours survivors and recalls the closure of the Semipalatinsk Test Site and Kazakhstan’s renunciation of the world’s fourth-largest nuclear arsenal - a sovereign choice for peace that continues to inspire.
