Bangkok, August 29, 2025 – The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Thailand, Margulan Baimukhan, met with the Regional Director of Thai AirAsia, Tansita Akrarittipirom.

During the talks, the parties discussed upcoming plans to launch regular air services on the Almaty–Bangkok route, as well as considered the possibility of introducing direct flights from other major cities of Kazakhstan.

Tansita Akrarittipirom noted that the airline’s development strategy includes the establishment of direct air routes with Kazakhstan, which will help promote people-to-people contacts, expand business ties and attract investment, while also serving as an important factor in boosting mutual tourism flows and strengthening cultural exchanges.

The Ambassador also emphasized that the opening of new routes will contribute to the further development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Thailand not only in tourism but also in the field of air cargo transportation. With its convenient geographic location and modern infrastructure, Kazakhstan can become a transit hub for cargo deliveries to and from Southeast Asian countries.

As a result of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to maintain regular contact and continue working towards the implementation of the agreements reached.

For reference: In 2024, more than 200,000 Kazakh citizens visited Thailand. Thai AirAsia is Thailand’s largest low-cost airline and part of the international AirAsia Group, which operates flights to more than 160 destinations across Asia and beyond. The company is actively expanding passenger transportation, including on Southeast Asia–Central Asia routes.
