The precious gem of Kazakh folk poetry, the centuries-old story of eternal love – the tragedy «Kozy Korpesh – Bayan Sulu» – has returned to the stage after half a century. The production was staged by Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bolat Uzakov. Set designer – Yerlan Tuyakov. Composer – Gulnur Nurasyl. Musical arrangement by Arnai Azanbayev. Orchestration – Medet Esbergenov. Ballet master – recipient of the “For Distinguished Labor” medal, Saltanat Sungat. Stage combat director – Ernar Mekebayev.       

This work, regarded as a spiritual treasure of the Turkic world, was first presented to audiences during the founding years of the theater. Now, having withstood the test of time and space, the fateful love story of Kozy and Bayan once again resonates with a new generation.

The production, which has become a symbol of love and fidelity, vividly portrays such human qualities as sincerity of feelings, friendship and honesty, as well as cruelty and betrayal. The central idea of the play reflects the aspirations of the youth of that era to achieve happiness in love through loyalty and devotion.

In the new staging, the harmonious combination of national identity and epic dramaturgy has been preserved, while the classical work has acquired a renewed expression, reinforcing its spiritual connection with today’s audience.

At the conclusion of the performance, the actors were presented with flowers of appreciation from the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, from members of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as from the Akim of Zhetysu Region.
