The Akim's Office of the Yenbekshinsky District: holding a citywide cleanup day as part of World Cleanup Day

On September 20, 2025, the Akim's Office of the Yenbekshinsky District of Shymkent organized and held a large-scale citywide cleanup event as part of World Cleanup Day. The event aimed to clean streets, courtyards, and public spaces, improve the district's sanitary conditions, raise environmental awareness among the population, and create a comfortable and safe living environment for residents.
The cleanup day brought together employees of state and municipal agencies, businesses, and local residents. The Yenbekshinsky District Akim's Office contributed 500 employees and 30 pieces of equipment. As a result of the work, 17 tons of trash were collected and removed. This demonstrates the high level of organization and active participation of municipal agencies in maintaining cleanliness and order in the district.
Additionally, 3,706 district residents actively participated in the cleanup. They cleaned their yards, adjacent areas, public spaces, and property lines, demonstrating a high level of social responsibility and a willingness to work together.
Commercial and industrial organizations also made significant contributions. For example, the Ontustik Industrial Zone deployed 2,000 employees and 4 vehicles, collecting and removing 5 tons of waste. The Zhuldyz Industrial Zone deployed 200 employees and 2 vehicles to remove 1 ton of waste. The AEA SEZ deployed 300 employees and 2 vehicles to remove 2 tons of waste.
The Department for the Development of a Comfortable Urban Environment deployed 26 employees and two pieces of equipment, collecting two tons of waste. The Construction Department sent 30 employees and two pieces of equipment, which removed three tons of waste. The Shymkent Department of SPS JSC deployed 20 employees and one piece of equipment, collecting two tons of waste. The Department of Internal Policy and Youth Affairs deployed 30 employees and one piece of equipment, which collected an additional two tons of waste.
Utility companies and industrial organizations also contributed to the cleanup. Vodokanal-1 LLC deployed 30 employees and two pieces of equipment, collecting one ton of waste. QazaqGaz Aimaq JSC deployed 60 employees and one piece of equipment, removing two tons of waste. Yenbekshi Electric Grids dispatched 30 employees and two pieces of equipment, removing two tons of waste. The Yenbekshi Audan Police Department deployed 200 employees and three pieces of equipment, removing four tons of waste.
Social institutions in the district also participated in the cleanup. 109 institutions contributed 4,360 employees and 10 pieces of equipment, removing 12 tons of waste. Petro Kazakhstan contributed 300 employees and 4 pieces of equipment, removing 3 tons of waste.
A total of 11,792 people participated in the cleanup event in the Yenbekshi district, 66 pieces of equipment were deployed, and 58 tons of waste were collected and removed. These figures demonstrate the scale of the event, the high level of organization, and the active participation of both public and private entities, as well as the public.
During the cleanup, the following work was completed:
Pruning and collection of dry trees and branches;
Mowing and maintenance of lawns and green spaces;
Welding and painting works;
General sanitary cleaning of territories;
Cleaning of sidewalks, streets, parks, playgrounds and flower beds;
Collection of waste in special bags and its removal to landfills.
The cleanup day also included educational and awareness-raising elements. Participants, especially children and teenagers, were taught about the importance of waste sorting, recycling, environmental protection, and maintaining cleanliness in everyday life. This contributed to the development of environmental awareness and increased social responsibility among residents.
Particular attention was paid to youth participation. Schoolchildren, college students, and university students actively participated in litter pickups, lawn and flowerbed maintenance, and cleaning playgrounds and sports fields. This approach helps instill a sense of responsibility in young people, fostering the habit of caring for nature and working collaboratively.
The cleanup demonstrated a high level of organization and collaboration among the participants. This collaborative effort allowed for the effective distribution of tasks, the pooling of efforts, and the achievement of maximum results. Each participant contributed to improving the sanitary conditions of the area and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
