On September 20, 2025, a city-wide “Clean City” weekend was held throughout the entire territory of Shymkent. The Al-Farabi district akimat and various departments under it actively participated in this auspicious event, contributing to the cleanliness and beautification of the city. The main goal of the weekend was to increase the ecological culture of residents, encourage society to protect nature, and also improve the sanitary conditions of the city.
The Al-Farabi District Akimat (Al-Farabi District Administrative Organization) was one of the organizing forces, mobilizing 100 employees and 7 vehicles for this event. About 20 tons of garbage were removed with their help. This figure indicates the large-scale work carried out in the district. The Akimat employees were not limited to collecting garbage, but also systematically carried out such works as cutting tree branches, mowing grass, washing roads, and cleaning pedestrian paths.
25 employees from the Housing Department participated in the cleanup and removed 0.5 tons of garbage. The main task of this department was to improve the sanitary conditions near residential buildings, tidy up garbage dumps, and also explain to residents their responsibility for cleanliness.
The City Environmental Quality and Control Department deployed 35 employees and 2 vehicles, collecting approximately 0.4 tons of garbage. They focused on cleanliness along the roads, in parks, and in playgrounds. They also made efforts to completely clean up small amounts of garbage that negatively affect the appearance of the city.
The Department of Energy and Infrastructure Development also showed activity on Saturday. 32 employees and 2 vehicles removed 0.37 tons of garbage. In addition, they did not limit themselves to cleaning, but also cleaned up the areas near lighting poles and utility lines.
45 employees from the Department of Education went on a Saturday and collected 0.4 tons of garbage. The areas around schools and kindergartens were cleaned, and the territories of educational institutions were landscaped. This work is of particular importance as an example of environmental education for the younger generation.
The largest participation was from the Department of Religious Affairs. This department mobilized 700 employees and 3 vehicles, removing 0.54 tons of garbage. The main effort was directed at cleaning the territory of mosques and religious buildings, as well as ensuring cleanliness in public places. The large number of participants showed that the spiritual sphere of society also plays a major role in protecting the environment.
In total, 937 employees and 14 vehicles participated in the Al-Farabi district, removing 22.21 tons of garbage. This is a great achievement achieved as a result of a one-day cleanup. Such a volume of garbage is a significant breakthrough for the cleanliness of the city.
The main tasks carried out during the Sabbath include the following:
Dead trees and broken branches were cut down and removed to special areas. This will promote the proper growth of greenery and have a positive impact on the cleanliness of the city's air.
Mowing was carried out. In particular, the grass in yards and vacant lots was mowed and put in order.
Roads and sidewalks were washed and cleaned of dust using special equipment.
The garbage dumps were not only cleaned, but also washed and disinfected. This helped reduce the odor of household waste and improve sanitary conditions.
A general cleaning operation was carried out throughout the city, and every street and corner was not left unattended.
This Saturday was not just a garbage collection, but a public event aimed at raising the environmental awareness of residents. Employees of each department contributed in their respective fields, and as a result of joint work, an opportunity was created to create a comfortable and clean environment for city residents.
Such events also contribute to the development of the city's culture. Because residents, witnessing or directly participating in the Shabbat, understand the importance of cleanliness. The principle of "A clean city is a clean society" is formed on the basis of such events. In addition, this Shabbat proved that state institutions and every sector of society can work together for a common cause.
The Al-Farabi district akimat plans to organize such Sabbaths regularly in the future. Maintaining cleanliness is the duty of every citizen, not only on Sabbaths, but also in everyday life.
In conclusion, the city-wide “Clean City” Saturday, which took place on September 20, 2025, was organized at a high level in the Al-Farabi district. Thanks to the efforts of 937 employees and the support of 14 vehicles, more than 22 tons of garbage were removed and the district was put in order. This is a real manifestation of unity, responsibility, and environmental culture.
