Brussels, 17 September 2025 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belgium Roman Vassilenko met with Senator Stéphanie D’Hose, Chair of the Friendship Group with the Central Asian countries in the Federal Parliament of Belgium.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the importance of inter-parliamentary contacts as an effective tool for strengthening political dialogue between Kazakhstan and Belgium.

Ambassador informed the Belgian side about the key provisions of the annual Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan delivered on 8 September 2025. Particular attention was given to the modernization of public administration, further digitalization of the economy, development of artificial intelligence, acceleration of the transition to “green” energy and low-carbon development, strengthening food security, expanding processing of critical and rare-earth materials, as well as measures to diversify the economy and enhance the country’s transport and transit potential.

Stéphanie D’Hose positively assessed the priorities outlined by the President of Kazakhstan and expressed the Belgian side’s interest in further developing cooperation in the areas of digitalization, sustainable development, the “green” economy, and ensuring reliable supply chains of critical raw materials.

She highlighted the progress achieved by Kazakhstan and the large-scale political and socio-economic reforms being implemented under the leadership of President Tokayev.

Both sides underlined their readiness to expand contacts between relevant committees and friendship groups, exchange experience in law-making and parliamentary oversight spheres, as well as to establish a coordinated calendar of activities for 2025-2026, including reciprocal visits, thematic round tables, and practical seminars.

At the meeting’s conclusion, a mutual commitment was reaffirmed to enrich the bilateral agenda with practical substance and to promote joint initiatives serving both countries’ interests.
