Fifth Meeting of the Kazakhstan–Chile Friendship Society

Brasília, July 29, 2026 – The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Federative Republic of Brazil, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Chile, together with the Kazakhstan - Chile Friendship Society, held the Society’s fifth meeting online.

The event was dedicated to the literary legacy of Mukagali Makatayev, marking the 95th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Kazakh poet and writer.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Brazil and concurrently to Chile, Bolat Nussupov, Executive Director of the Kazakhstan-Chile Friendship Society, Marcia Castro and Society members, Carmen Sandoval Osorio and Anuar Temirov. The presentations, delivered in Spanish, focused on the philosophical aspects of interpreting Mukagali Makatayev’s literary legacy and sparked a lively discussion among the participants. Particular emphasis was placed on the poet’s spiritual legacy for future generations of the Kazakh people, as well as on his unique poem dedicated to the people of Chile.

At the conclusion of the event, Marcia Castro was virtually presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in recognition of her personal contribution to strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between Kazakhstan and Chile in the fields of culture and education.

This year, Kazakhstan and Chile are marking the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Founded in 2022, the Kazakhstan–Chile Friendship Society has consistently promoted cultural, humanitarian, scientific, technical, and academic cooperation between the two countries. Organizing academic conferences, exhibitions, and concert events remains one of its key areas of activity.
