On April 28-29, 2025, at the 13th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the parties agreed to finalize and sign the Agreement on Transit Trade between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan during the visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in 2025.

The draft Agreement lays the foundation for transport and logistics procedures, where both parties commit to providing each other with transit trade opportunities along pre-agreed routes and strengthening economic cooperation within the framework of customs administration between the countries.

In this regard, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan has developed a draft resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the signing of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Transit Trade."
