The ancient and at the same time modern city of Azerbaijan, Ganja, became the venue for the III CIS Games (September 29 – October 4), one of the most prestigious sporting events in the post-Soviet space. 1840 athletes from Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan took part in the tournament. The opening ceremony was very beautiful and bright, and the start of the international championship was given by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.
The competitions were held not only in Ganja, but also in other regions of the country. 43 trampolinists from seven countries competed for medals in Shaki. Of course, Karagandins played in the national team and they won medals!
- The competitions were very difficult, as the strongest participated in them, for example, the Olympic champion from Belarus Ivan Litvinovich, - said Sergey Vertyankin, the head coach of the national team of Kazakhstan and the senior coach of the Karaganda region in trampoline gymnastics. – But Nikita Tumakov, our youngest member of the team, was able to show an excellent result – he won a bronze medal, and he was the best in the preliminary stage.
This is Nikita's first international award in individual jumping. Earlier we reported that the Musabaev-Tumakov duet from Karaganda took the silver medal of the World Cup.
Another pupil of the Karaganda gymnastics school, and now a representative of the School of Higher Sports Excellence, Yerlan Tasmagambetov, distinguished himself at the Games. He is also a very promising and talented guy who took third place in synchronized jumping. Well done!
