In Shymkent, systematic efforts to foster environmental awareness and create comfortable living conditions for residents continue. One striking example was the large-scale "Clean City" ("Taza Kala") campaign held on September 25, 2025, by local police officers from the Al-Farabi District Police Department.

The main goal of the event is to draw citizens' attention to sanitation and urban improvement, raise environmental awareness, and unite the community around the idea of maintaining cleanliness and order. The organizers emphasize that keeping the city clean is not only the responsibility of public services but also the concern of every resident.

The event brought together police officers, representatives of educational institutions, volunteers, and ordinary residents. Each contributed, setting a personal example of caring for their hometown.

Improvement work was carried out in several key areas at once:

  1. Garbage collection in public places, streets, parks and courtyards.
Participants collected household waste, plastic bottles, bags, and other trash that marred the city's appearance. All waste was taken to landfills. This not only improved the appearance of the area but also reduced sanitary risks.

  2. Cleaning and repair of pedestrian paths and roadsides.
Through a joint effort, sidewalks and roadsides were cleared of dirt, leaves, and debris. Minor repairs were made in areas where the paving was damaged. Residents noted that the renovated paths are now safer and more convenient to navigate.

  3. Planting trees and shrubs, maintenance of green spaces.
During the campaign, several dozen saplings were planted. Existing trees were whitewashed, and shrubs were trimmed to give them a neat appearance. These efforts not only contribute to greening but also improve the city's environmental situation.

  4. Creation of flower beds and lawn care.
Flowers were planted in some areas, new flowerbeds were created, and lawn areas were seeded. Particular attention was paid to watering the plants, which is especially important in Shymkent's hot climate.

  5. Repair and painting of children's and sports playgrounds.
The children's play areas were given a fresh coat of paint, and minor defects were repaired. The metal structures on the sports grounds were updated, and the goals and exercise equipment were repainted. They now look well-maintained and safe.

  6. Installation and restoration of trash bins, benches, and lanterns.
New trash bins and benches were installed in public spaces. Broken lampposts were replaced and lighting was restored in rest areas. This created a more comfortable environment for residents, especially in the evenings.

  7. Improvement of territories of social facilities.
The campaign focused on schools, kindergartens, and hospitals. The grounds of these facilities were cleared of debris, and flower beds and lawns were tidied up. A more pleasant and safer environment was created for students and patients.

What made the event unique was the active participation of district police officers. This demonstrated that law enforcement officers are not limited to maintaining law and order but also contribute to the development and improvement of the city.

During the event, police conducted outreach to residents, explaining waste disposal rules, the need to respect green spaces, and adhere to environmental regulations. Such discussions help foster legal and environmental awareness among residents.

The campaign became truly popular. People of all ages and backgrounds—from schoolchildren and students to retirees—took to the streets. Many parents brought their children, demonstrating to them the importance of caring for the environment.

Participants say such initiatives allow them to feel a sense of belonging in the city's life. People see the results of their efforts and feel pride in the cleanliness and beauty of their local streets.

"Clean City" is more than just an environmental campaign. It plays an important social role, bringing people together and fostering a sense of solidarity. When police officers, students, teachers, and entrepreneurs work side by side, it fosters trust and mutual understanding.

Moreover, the campaign has an educational value. The younger generation learns to respect the work of others, value order, and protect the environment. Such experiences are reinforced and become a lasting habit.

The organizers of the Clean City campaign emphasized that this is not a one-time event. Such activities will continue regularly, as maintaining cleanliness requires ongoing effort.

The results of the work are clear: streets and courtyards are cleaner, parks are more well-maintained, and playgrounds and sports fields are safer. Residents now have a renewed and improved environment for rest and leisure.

The protest demonstrated that the city's future depends on every resident. If everyone maintains order and preserves public spaces, Shymkent will become an even more beautiful, comfortable, and safe place to live.
