On October 3, 2025, a large-scale clean-up was held in Shymkent as part of the “Birgemiz Taza Alem” project and the “Taza Kazakhstan” environmental campaign. The event was actively attended by the city's youth, members of the volunteer movement, students of educational institutions and schoolchildren. The main goal is to clean up the city, form an ecological culture, and increase the responsibility of residents for the environment.
During the campaign, young volunteers cleaned the courtyards of multi-storey residential buildings, children's playgrounds, pedestrian paths, green areas and parks. Special working groups were formed in each district of the city, which, together with residents, organized cleaning activities. Cleaning work began simultaneously in Enbekshi, Al-Farabi, Karatau and Abay districts.
Volunteers collected garbage, sorted household waste, and collected recyclables separately. This initiative is considered an important step from an environmental perspective, as the issue of developing a culture of waste recycling is currently receiving special attention in Kazakhstan.
As the coordinators of the "Birgemiz Taza Alem" project note, such events make a great contribution to the formation of environmental awareness among young people. Because each participant not only contributes to the cleanliness of their hometown with their work, but also learns to be more careful about the environment.
Volunteers participating in the campaign were provided with special gloves and garbage bags. They were also given safety instructions. During the cleanup, more than 30 tons of household and construction waste were collected and transported to special landfills.
The head of the city's youth resource center emphasized the importance of this event and highly appreciated the activity of young people:
— Today's environmental campaign is not just a cleaning operation, it is an appeal to society. We want to remind every resident that they have a responsibility for the cleanliness and appearance of their city. If everyone starts from their own yard, from their own street, Shymkent will truly become a green and clean city, — he said.
The Clean Kazakhstan campaign is a sustainable environmental initiative that is being implemented throughout the country. The main goal of this project is to protect nature, promote environmental culture, and actively involve residents in environmental protection. Shymkent is a leader in this direction. In recent years, the city has implemented a number of effective projects in the field of landscaping, water purification, and household waste management.
Representatives of the Shymkent city administration also participated in the Sabbath and set an example for young people. Together with them, entrepreneurs and employees of various organizations carried out cleaning work in every corner of the city. The administration distributed explanatory leaflets on maintaining cleanliness and proper sorting of household waste.
During the campaign, some residents also worked with volunteers in their yards. Such joint actions increased the sense of mutual assistance and shared responsibility in the community. After the Sabbath ended, children's play areas and small flower beds were created in the yards of apartment buildings, and trees were planted.
According to the volunteers, such events are becoming an important part of environmental education and upbringing. Because young people are not limited to just collecting garbage, they understand the broader meaning of environmental protection. They noted that keeping nature clean is a duty to future generations.
Specialists from the Shymkent city ecology department also participated in the event and provided advice on improving the environmental situation. They explained to residents how to properly separate household waste and recycle plastic and glass. They also paid attention to the issue of preventing water sources from being polluted and protecting greenery.
At the end of the event, all participants were awarded letters of appreciation and souvenirs. The organizers expressed their gratitude for the youth's activity and said that such initiatives will continue in the future.
The "Birgemiz Taza Alem" project is being implemented in many regions of Kazakhstan. It is a national program aimed at developing youth volunteerism and increasing environmental responsibility. Shymkent youth, as one of the active participants in this project, are setting an example for the country.
Also, through this event, volunteers not only clean up the city, but also promote the ideas of environmental protection and form an ecological culture among residents. Such initiatives increase the environmental awareness of society and change the attitude of each citizen towards nature.
Residents of Shymkent highly appreciated the campaign and expressed their support for more frequent such clean-up events. According to residents, the activity of young people is a sign of confidence in the future. Because only a generation with environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility can truly make their city and country prosperous.
Thus, the “Birgemiz Taza Alem” and “Taza Kazakhstan” campaigns held on October 3 once again demonstrated the activity, organization, and love of Shymkent youth for their native city. This initiative will undoubtedly continue in the future and give impetus to the development of environmental culture in all regions of the country.
