A delegation of Kazakhstan headed by the Chairman of the Emergency Prevention Committee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Serik Junisbekov participated in the annual Economic and Environmental Dimension Implementation Meeting (EEDIM) of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). The agenda of this year's meeting focused on the implementation of OSCE commitments in the field of disaster risk reduction.
Participants discussed ways to promote an inclusive approach and innovative technologies for effective disaster risk reduction across the OSCE region.
In his speech, S.Junisbekov pointed out Kazakhstan's long-standing efforts to comprehensive engagement and cooperation in emergency prevention, as well as the active implementation of the priority areas of the Sendai Framework Programme and the Sustainable Development Goals.
It was emphasized that in order to prevent and reduce the risk of natural and man-made emergencies, safety passports are developing annually. By the request of the Kazakh side, the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction in Almaty (CESDRR) and the OSCE Programme Office in Astana developed the "Digital Safety Passports" and "Interactive Maps" subsystems.
A representative of CESDRR Zulfiya Yesniyazova has provided the participants with detailed information about the projects implemented jointly with the OSCE and introduced the Center's activity.
