The ban on the export of scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals has been extended

The Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan has extended the ban on the export of scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals from the country.

The relevant order was signed on October 23, 2025 and entered into force on October 30, 2025. According to the document, the ban is set for a period of 6 months and applies to all types of transport.

The restrictions include:

- waste and scrap of copper, aluminum, lead, waste and scrap of lead batteries, spent lead batteries, other, containing lead, cadmium or mercury, sorted by chemical type and not containing lead, cadmium or mercury, unsorted and not containing lead, cadmium or mercury;

- waste and scrap of ferrous metals, ferrous metal ingots for remelting (charge ingots), used pipes, rails, railway track elements and rolling stock.

 

The new solution is aimed at providing the domestic market with raw materials for the metallurgical industry and supporting domestic processing enterprises.

The ban on the export of scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals has been in effect in Kazakhstan since April 29, 2025.
