Kazakhstan’s Contribution to Development of Middle Corridor Discussed in Brussels

Brussels, 6 November 2025 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the European Union Roman Vassilenko took part as a speaker in the “Türkiye – EU Business Forum 2025”, organized with the participation of the European Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Technology of Türkiye, as well as leading European and Turkish business associations.
The Forum featured thematic sessions dedicated to energy resilience, the green and digital transitions, the development of smart cities, and the enhancement of transport connectivity between Türkiye and the European Union.
A separate panel session focused on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor. Participants discussed the prospects for expanding and modernizing this multimodal route as one of the key corridors for strengthening global supply chains and trade links between Europe and Asia.
Speaking at the session, Ambassador Vassilenko emphasized the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor for Kazakhstan. He noted that the country is consistently implementing a comprehensive set of measures to develop its transport and logistics infrastructure, including the modernization of the Aktau and Kuryk ports, the expansion of railway border crossings, and the digitalization of customs procedures along the route.
The diplomat also highlighted Kazakhstan’s growing role in the region as a key partner of the European Union in advancing the “Global Gateway” initiative, aimed at developing sustainable transport and energy links between Europe and Asia. He emphasized that the development of the Middle Corridor not only creates new opportunities for international trade but also contributes to strengthening energy, food, and economic security within the broader system of intercontinental connectivity.
Overall, the Forum served as an important platform for exchanging ideas and developing practical solutions to strengthen economic cooperation between the European Union, Türkiye, and the countries of Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
Following the discussions, participants reaffirmed the importance of further developing infrastructure and investment projects aimed at fostering sustainable and mutually beneficial partnerships.
