Kazakhstan and OSCE/ODIHR discuss prospects for further cooperation

Vienna, November 6, 2025 – The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the international organizations in Vienna, Mukhtar Tleuberdi, held a meeting with the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), Maria Telalian.
The two sides discussed the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and ODIHR in the fields of democratic development, human rights protection, and the rule of law.

Ambassador Tleuberdi briefed the head of the Bureau on the progress of Kazakhstan’s political reforms, including President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s initiative to hold a nationwide referendum in 2027 on transitioning the country to a unicameral parliament.

Director Telalian, in turn, thanked the Kazakh side for supporting the Bureau's activities and emphasized the priority of developing bilateral relations with Astana as an exemplary model of interaction and productivity in the region. In this context, she confirmed her determination to make an official visit to Kazakhstan next year.
