Issues related to the development of constitutional control were discussed in Tashkent

Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan Asan Eskendirov took part in an international scientific and practical conference held in Tashkent. The event was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of constitutional control bodies of Asian countries, international organizations, and renowned legal scholars took part in the conference.

The central topic of discussion was constitutional reform and current aspects of the development of the institution of constitutional control.

Speaking on behalf of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan Asan Eskendirov congratulated his colleagues from the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan on their anniversary. In his speech, he talked about the history of the formation and evolution of Kazakhstan's constitutional control body. Particular attention was paid to the legal reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan and the activities of the Constitutional Court in light of the 2022 constitutional reform. In addition, the judge shared his experience of the implementation of Constitutional Court decisions by state bodies.

The conference also included a solemn ceremony to transfer the chairmanship of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions for 2025-2027 from the Constitutional Court of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

For reference: The Association was established in 2010 as a regional forum for constitutional justice bodies in Asia. The Association's goal is to promote the protection of human rights, guarantee democracy, ensure the rule of law, the independence of constitutional courts and equivalent institutions, cooperation, and the exchange of experience and information among participants. Currently, 21 states participate in the Association.

Over the years, the Association has been chaired by the constitutional review bodies of Korea (2010–2012), Turkey (2012–2014), Indonesia (2014–2017), the Federal Court of Malaysia (2017–2019), Kazakhstan (2019–2021), and Mongolia (2021–2023). The current chair is the Constitutional Court of the Kingdom of Thailand (2023–2025).
