On November 3, 2025, an important global event — the “Kazakhstan Global Investment Round — KGIR-2025” forum — began in Astana. This year, the forum is organized under the theme “New Solutions in the Era of Transformation: Kazakhstan — the Center for Sustainable Economic Development.” The event brought together more than 700 participants from more than 40 countries around the world. Among them are heads of state structures, heads of transnational corporations, international experts, large investors, as well as representatives of business communities and international organizations.

The main goal of the forum is to present Kazakhstan's investment opportunities in the context of global economic changes, establish new partnerships, and implement promising projects aimed at sustainable development. Plenary and panel sessions will widely discuss important issues such as global market trends, digitalization of the economy, green energy, management of global capital flows, and infrastructure investments.

The third megalopolis of Kazakhstan, Shymkent, is also actively participating in this forum, presenting its potential to international investors. At the round table, documents were signed on the implementation of 5 major investment projects that will give a significant impetus to the economic development of Shymkent. The total cost of the projects is 449.4 billion tenge .

Shymkent is developing every day as an industrial and logistics center of the country. Improving the investment climate, increasing economic activity and opening new industries are among the main tasks of the city administration. One of the concrete results in this direction is the following projects signed at the KGIR-2025 site:

1. Project for the construction of a modern greenhouse complex
Project cost: 68 billion tenge
Parties: Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Shymkent City Administration, FabeAgro LLP

Within the framework of this project, a high-performance greenhouse complex equipped with modern technologies and providing year-round production will be built. The greenhouse will produce tomatoes, cucumbers and other vegetable products, providing the domestic market and increasing export potential. It is expected that more than 600 new jobs will be created when the project is implemented.

2. A form of electricity generation through waste processing and incineration
Project cost: 55 billion tenge
Parties: Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Shymkent City Administration, Shaanxi Construction Kazakhstan Co., Ltd.

This model of energy production will pave the way for safe disposal and reduction of waste. At the same time, it will increase the share of green energy. The project is aimed at improving the environment and is implemented in accordance with international standards.

3. Project for the creation of an industrial and logistics park
Project cost: 120 billion tenge

This park will become a new logistics hub in Central Asia. It is planned to increase the efficiency of freight transportation, develop warehousing and customs infrastructure, relying on international transport corridors passing through the city. The project will also support the manufacturing industry.

4. Construction of a factory for the production of medical devices
Project cost: 98 billion tenge
Parties: Ministry of Health, domestic and foreign partners

The project, which aims to reduce dependence on imports, is aimed at producing high-tech products. The plant will produce diagnostic equipment, medical accessories and consumables. About 1,000 people will be employed.

5. Production of "green" building materials
Project cost: 108.4 billion tenge
Parties: Leading companies in the construction industry

It is planned to produce environmentally friendly construction products. This will allow the city's dynamic construction sector to move to environmental standards.

These projects will strengthen the city's economy in several ways:

New jobs: permanent employment of 4–5 thousand people
Increased export volume: Almost 30% of production is exported abroad
Improving the environment: Waste treatment and green technologies
Infrastructure development: Increased logistics and production capacity
Increased tax revenues: Stable financial flow to the budget

Experts speaking at the forum noted that Shymkent's geographical location, labor resources, and production potential are key factors in attracting foreign capital to the region. The city, as a strategic hub along the Silk Road, facilitates access to Central Asian markets.

Investment projects worth 449.4 billion tenge signed within the framework of KGIR-2025 are a concrete step towards the economic modernization of Shymkent. These initiatives will bring the metropolis among the leaders of sustainable development and allow the development of new technologies and modern industries.

Shymkent is a city that investors trust.
And this trust is the foundation of the city's great future successes.
