On November 1, 2025, at the initiative of the district akim's office and as part of the national environmental campaign "Clean Kazakhstan," another cleanup day was held in the courtyards of apartment buildings in the Sairam microdistrict. Its main goal was to foster environmental awareness among the population, increase citizen responsibility for the environment, and create a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents of the district.
The cleanup event was attended by staff from the district akim's office, specialists from the Al-Farabi municipal government agency, community activists, youth volunteer groups, and concerned residents of the neighborhood. All participants demonstrated great enthusiasm and a desire to contribute to improving the sanitary conditions of their neighborhood.
In addition to standard trash collection and site cleanup, special attention was paid to landscaping adjacent areas. Children's playgrounds, fences, and benches were painted, and trees and curbs were whitewashed. In some areas, specialists performed welding and repaired damaged infrastructure to ensure the safety and comfort of residents, especially children.
Over 100 people and 15 pieces of specialized equipment, including garbage trucks, loaders, tractors, and auxiliary cleaning equipment, were involved in the cleanup. By the end of the cleanup, approximately 4 tons of solid municipal waste had been collected and removed. This volume once again demonstrated that waste management remains a pressing issue and requires not only periodic measures but also a systematic approach.
Representatives of the district administration expressed gratitude to all participants, noting that Sairam is one of the city's most densely populated neighborhoods, meaning maintaining order and improving sanitary conditions is of particular importance. They also emphasized that improvement and landscaping work will continue and expand, including renovating courtyards, expanding green spaces, and further improving infrastructure.
The campaign included outreach to the public about the need to respect nature and adhere to waste management regulations. Residents were reminded that waste should be disposed of exclusively in containers, preferably separated into categories for recycling. Participants were given informational leaflets explaining the environmental impact of waste and the importance of each person's personal contribution to maintaining the city's cleanliness.
Active young people who participated in the cleanup day noted the importance of such events for fostering civic engagement. The young volunteers emphasized that every resident is responsible for keeping their surroundings clean and should set an example, especially for the younger generation. If everyone maintains order, the city will become significantly cleaner and more attractive, and cleanup costs will be significantly reduced.
In addition, utility workers carried out sanitary pruning of trees, cleared green areas, and tidied up the plantings. They also paid close attention to the playgrounds, inspecting the integrity of the flooring and reinforcing playground equipment and fencing. All of this has improved courtyard safety and improved conditions for residents to enjoy active recreation.
According to residents, such events have a positive impact on the quality of life and unite neighbors with a common goal: to create a clean, comfortable, and well-maintained environment. Residents expressed hope that cleanup days would be held regularly and expressed their willingness to participate in them in the future. Many recalled the maxim: "Cleanliness is not where people clean, but where they don't litter," emphasizing the need for a cultured attitude toward the environment.
The "Clean Kazakhstan" environmental campaign continues throughout the country, attracting thousands of citizens, public organizations, businesses, and institutions. Its mission is to foster a conscious attitude toward nature and motivate people to participate in keeping their communities clean. In Shymkent, the initiative has found enthusiastic support, and such events have become a well-established tradition.
The cleanup day in the Sairam microdistrict was part of a comprehensive effort to clean and improve urban areas. New projects are planned to develop courtyards, improve infrastructure, and green the area. Authorities intend to consistently address residents' concerns, creating comfortable living conditions.
In conclusion, it's safe to say that the recent cleanup day was a significant step toward a cleaner and more environmentally friendly city. It demonstrated the unity and proactive attitude of residents, and the willingness of all stakeholders to work together to improve quality of life. Strengthening environmental awareness begins with each person, and if everyone makes a small contribution, Shymkent can rightfully become one of the greenest and cleanest cities in the country.
