On November 27, Arman Shakkaliyev, Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, met with the owners and managers of large markets. Representatives from approximately 100 markets, as well as specialists from the Ministries of Agriculture, Emergency Situations, Health, Internal Affairs, the State Revenue Committee, and local executive bodies, participated in the meeting.
The Minister emphasized that modernizing the markets is important for both businesses and residents. Upgrading the infrastructure will improve sanitary and fire safety standards and create a comfortable environment for shoppers and sellers. The modernization project is being carried out jointly with central and local authorities. The Ministry has provided additional support measures to develop trade and implement modern market formats.
Arman Shakkaliyev noted that food price stability remains a key issue. He explained that markets directly influence the cost of goods in the regions, so speculation is unacceptable. When goods are purchased cheaply and sold at inflated prices, this harms citizens and impacts social stability.
With the holidays approaching, the Minister called for stable prices, promotions, and discounts. He recalled the successful "Bereke Fest" campaign, where groceries and other goods were sold at reduced prices. A new stage of the campaign is planned for the end of the year, and the active participation of markets will help maintain prices and ease the burden on the population.
The Ministry of Trade and Integration called on market managers to closely collaborate with akimats, ensure pricing transparency, and demonstrate social responsibility for the sake of stability and the well-being of citizens.
