Ambassador Kairat Torebayev, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the WTO and Chair of the Trade Policy Review Body.

The delegation of Thailand is led by H.E. Ms. Kirida Bhaopichitr, Vice Minister for Commerce. Particular attention was given to measures on modernizing customs administration, the full implementation of Thailand’s obligations under the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement, digital transformation, and the promotion of high-technology industries, including the development of electric vehicles, electronics, and green energy.

WTO Members commended Thailand’s commitment to the multilateral trading system and its active role in the WTO reform process, including participation in ongoing Joint Statement Initiatives on e-commerce, services domestic regulation, and investment facilitation. Members also exchanged views on further simplification of tariff regimes, notification disciplines, regulatory predictability in technical regulations, and improving conditions for foreign investment.

Trade Policy Reviews play a key role in ensuring openness and predictability of Members’ trade regimes, fostering their integration into the multilateral trading system, and strengthening trust among WTO Members.

The next and final Trade Policy Review under Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in 2025 will take place on 10 and 12 December and will be dedicated to Vanuatu.
