For reference: The Brasilia Botanical Garden (Jardim Botânico de Brasília) was founded on March 8, 1985. This was the first botanical garden in Brazil with a predominantly Cerrado ecosystem (the Cerrado is a region in Brazil dominated by savannah biome). The garden covers 5,000 hectares, of which 526 hectares are open to the public. The Botanical Garden features rare species of trees and plants.
The Botanical Garden has a special area called the "Avenue of Nations and States" (Alameda das Nações e dos Estados). It is designed to bring together trees and plants representing different countries of the world (for example, cherry blossoms from Japan; lavender, olive trees, and jasmine from Spain; date palms, olive trees, and figs from Israel, among others).
