Shymkent Mayor Gabit Syzdykbekov held his traditional annual meeting with representatives of the business community. The event became an important platform for open dialogue between entrepreneurs and the mayor's office on issues related to entrepreneurship development and improving the city's investment climate.
The meeting discussed a wide range of pressing issues directly impacting business development. Particular attention was paid to measures to support small and medium-sized businesses, including reducing the special tax rate from 4% to 2%, as well as other systemic issues that promote sustainable economic growth.
Gabit Syzdykbekov also noted the implementation of a number of investment projects aimed at strengthening the economy and creating new jobs. In the first 11 months of this year, the volume of investment attracted to Shymkent exceeded 715.2 billion tenge. Furthermore, agreements were signed at the Global Investment Forum in Astana to implement five major projects worth a total of USD 863 million.
The mayor also emphasized the importance of registering businesses directly in Shymkent. He stated that the practice of locating production in the city but legally registering them in other regions does not contribute to the full replenishment of the local budget and hinders the development of the city's economy.
At the end of the meeting, the city mayor expressed gratitude to entrepreneurs for their active participation in implementing joint initiatives.
"We highly value the constructive cooperation between entrepreneurs and joint initiatives to stabilize prices and curb inflation. This is especially important for city residents. Supporting business directly impacts the quality of life of our citizens and economic development," the mayor noted.
In addition, the mayor awarded several business representatives with letters of gratitude for their contributions to Shymkent's socio-economic development and for demonstrating high levels of social responsibility.
