Today, 249 servicemen bearing the name Bauyrzhan are serving in the ranks of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan — a name that in Kazakhstan’s history and military tradition is associated with courage, honor, and selfless service to the Motherland.

The name Bauyrzhan holds a special place in the country’s military culture thanks to the legendary military commander, Hero of the Soviet Union, writer, and thinker Bauyrzhan Momyshuly. His life path and combat experience became a moral benchmark for many generations of defenders of the Fatherland, while his principles of discipline, responsibility, and patriotism remain relevant to this day.

It is especially symbolic that military unit 5571 in the city of Almaty bears the name of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Halyk Qaharmany, Guards Colonel Bauyrzhan Momyshuly. For the personnel, this is not only a great honor, but also a constant reminder of the need to live up to the name of the outstanding warrior by demonstrating professionalism, resilience, and devotion in the performance of service and combat missions.

“Bauyrzhan Momyshuly is the embodiment of courage, discipline, and true patriotism for me. The realization that I bear his name places a special responsibility on me. It obliges me to be a worthy successor to the glorious path of the legendary batyr. Serving in the National Guard is a great honor for me. My main goal is to remain faithful to the Military Oath and ensure peace and security for the citizens of our country,” — says conscript soldier of military unit 5517, Private Bauyrzhan Tolemagamet.

In 2025, Kazakhstan widely commemorates the 115th anniversary of the birth of the legendary commander. In this regard, commemorative, educational, and informational events are being held in the units of the National Guard aimed at strengthening military-patriotic spirit, preserving historical memory, and promoting the example of the outstanding hero among the younger generation of servicemen.

It is worth noting that his works “Psychology of War” and “Ushqan uya” have formed the basis of state-legal and combat training in the law enforcement troops.

The service of such a significant number of guardsmen bearing the name Bauyrzhan in the National Guard today is perceived as a symbol of continuity of military traditions and the living legacy of a man whose name is forever inscribed in the history of Kazakhstan’s military glory.
