On December 1, the Akim of the Mangystau Region, Nurdaulet Kilybay, met with a delegation led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Levan Diasamidze.
The parties discussed issues related to expanding cooperation between the Mangystau Region and Georgia in the economic, transport and logistics, tourism, and cultural spheres.
The regional akim, Nurdaulet Kilybay, highlighted the investment potential of Mangystau, noting that the region’s geographical location, transport infrastructure, and favorable investment climate are key factors for bilateral partnership.
“Mangystau Region is one of the industrial centers of our country. We are interested in developing mutually beneficial projects in the oil and gas sector, transport and logistics, tourism, manufacturing industry, and the agro-industrial complex. We are particularly open to joint initiatives to expand transit opportunities across the Caspian Sea,” the head of the region said.
During the meeting, a project to organize regular maritime ferry services across the Caspian Sea along the Kuryk–Alat (Azerbaijan) route was discussed. As part of the project, initiated by Georgian Industrial Group, it is planned to launch two ferries in the first half of 2026. By 2027, the ferry fleet is expected to increase to six vessels. This will make it possible to increase cargo transportation volumes along the Caspian route, develop port infrastructure, and enhance the efficiency of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
In turn, Ambassador Levan Diasamidze noted that Georgia is interested in strengthening cooperation with Kazakhstan in the fields of transport, logistics, and tourism, including with the Mangystau Region.
It is worth noting that the foreign trade turnover between the Mangystau Region and Georgia for January–October 2025 amounted to USD 1.9 million. Currently, 51 enterprises with Georgian capital are operating in the region.
