Kazakhstan's GDP growth in 2025 amounted to 6.5%

In January–December 2025, according to preliminary data from the Bureau of National Statistics, Kazakhstan's gross domestic product increased by 6.5% compared to the same period last year.

On behalf of the Head of State, the Government is taking systematic measures to diversify the economy. Over the past year, industry, transport, construction, and trade have made the main contribution to economic growth.

The industrial production index for the year was 7.4%. The manufacturing sector is showing steady growth of 6.4%. The figures were driven by an increase in food production by 8.1%, oil refining products by 5.9%, chemical industry products by 9.8%, metallurgy by 1.2%, and mechanical engineering products by 12.9%. The growth was noted in Aktobe, Almaty, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Zhetisu, Karaganda, Kostanay, Mangystau, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, Ulytau, Turkestan regions, in the cities of Astana, Almaty and Shymkent.

Growth in the transport and warehousing industry reached 20.4% by the end of the year (in January–November – 20.3%) due to an increase in cargo transportation volumes, primarily by road and rail, as well as an increase in passenger traffic in several regions of the country. There has been an increase in the volume of auxiliary transportation services, including freight forwarding, air traffic control, airport services, warehouses and warehouses, grain and refrigerated cargo storage services.

The growth in the construction industry was 15.9%, which is higher than in January -November 2025 (14.7%). The growth was driven by the implementation of infrastructural and social projects, including the construction of comfortable schools, medical facilities, transport and engineering infrastructure. In January-December 2025, the total area of commissioned housing was 20.1 million square meters, which is 5.1% higher than in 2024.

The positive dynamics continues in trade: in January-December 2025, the sphere showed 8.9% (in January-November - 8.8%). The main contribution was made by wholesale trade, which accounted for more than two thirds of the total industry volume. The increase in the growth rate of wholesale trade was influenced by enterprises selling grain, seeds and animal feed – by 2.6 times, machinery and equipment – by 99.8%, pharmaceutical products – by 44.1%, automobiles and light vehicles – by 33%, dairy products, eggs, edible oils and fats – by 25.8%, sugar, chocolate and sugary confectionery products – by 21.2%, wide–range goods - by 12.5%.

The figures in agriculture, forestry and fisheries amounted to 5.9%. The growth was provided by positive dynamics in crop production (7.8%) and in animal husbandry (3.3%).

In the field of information and communications, the growth was 3.6%.

In general, the pace of economic development reflects the steady development of key industries.
