Kazakh–Romanian Agricultural Cooperation Reaches a New Level

Bucharest, 13 January 2026 — A working meeting was held between Ambassador E. Ali and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Romania, F. Barbu.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Kazakh–Romanian cooperation in the agricultural sector, as well as issues related to expanding mutual trade in agricultural products.

Particular attention was paid to the dynamics of sunflower oil imports from Romania to Kazakhstan. It was noted that over the recent period the volume of supplies of this product has increased fivefold, which indicates its strong potential and high demand on the Kazakh market.

The sides confirmed their mutual interest in further expanding trade and economic cooperation, developing direct contacts between relevant authorities and the business communities of the two countries, as well as in implementing joint projects in the field of agricultural processing.

The Minister expressed his intention to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan in June–July of the current year in order to hold negotiations and discuss specific areas of cooperation.

Following the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of continuing constructive dialogue and noted the high level of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Romania.
