As part of the implementation of the instructions of the Head of State, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has approved a comprehensive development plan for the Shchuchinsk–Burabay resort area. The progress of the work and the key directions for the development of tourism infrastructure were reported by the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerbol Myrzabossynov, at a Government meeting.
According to the Minister, Burabay is carrying out systematic efforts to redistribute the tourist load among major natural sites. In particular, the development of alternative locations such as Lakes Katarkol and Zhukey is envisaged. This will help reduce pressure on the most visited areas and enhance the overall sustainability of the resort.
In 2024, new tourism infrastructure facilities were commissioned in the Shchuchinsk–Burabay resort area, including the landscaped “Promenade” zone, more than 10 kilometers of cycling paths, and modern observation decks. The implemented projects are aimed at developing active, eco-friendly, and family tourism, as well as improving the quality of services for visitors.
The development of infrastructure in Burabay contributes to expanding the region’s tourism product, creating a comfortable environment for year-round recreation, and strengthening the resort’s position as one of the country’s key tourist destinations.
