Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Attended Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony in Astana

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Gideon Sa’ar, took part in a solemn ceremony in Astana dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The commemorative date was established by a United Nations General Assembly resolution in 2005 and is observed worldwide in memory of the victims of Nazism.

The event brought together representatives of diplomatic missions, government agencies, religious communities, international organizations, and civil society. The ceremony was organized by the Embassy of Israel, the Embassy of Germany, and the International Center for Interfaith and Interreligious Dialogue, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in preserving historical memory.

In his address, Minister Kosherbayev delivered a special message from the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, emphasizing that remembrance of the millions who perished during the Holocaust is a shared moral responsibility of humanity. He reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to the principles of tolerance, mutual respect, and the protection of human dignity.
