SRC discussed expanding practical cooperation with the National Tax Service of Korea

January 13, 2026, Sejong (Republic of Korea) – Representative of the State Revenue Committee in the Republic of Korea, Bibarys Shapetov held a meeting with Min Hoejun, Director of International Cooperation of the National Tax Service of Korea.
During the discussion, the parties reviewed priority areas of cooperation in the tax sphere, including strengthening working-level contacts, exchanging information on matters of mutual interest, and identifying practical formats for collaboration. The Kazakh side emphasized the SRC’s intention to intensify dialogue with Korean counterparts and to use opportunities to learn from their practices, including approaches aimed at enhancing the transparency and efficiency of tax administration.
The National Tax Service of Korea is recognized as having one of the most advanced approaches in the region to digital tax administration, including the development of e-services, automation of procedures, and the use of analytical tools. In this regard, the parties discussed opportunities to exchange experience in introducing modern technologies and managerial solutions aimed at improving administrative efficiency and enhancing services for taxpayers, including data analytics and risk-based approaches to compliance control.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further work on organizing a bilateral meeting between the leadership of the SRC of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan and the National Tax Service of the Republic of Korea. It is expected that such a meeting will help define specific priorities for the near term, agree on mechanisms for regular consultations, and make cooperation more practical and results-oriented.
In addition, the parties expressed interest in considering the preparation and signing of a bilateral memorandum of cooperation in the field of digitalization of tax administration. Possible areas include sharing experience in the development of e-services and integrated platforms, implementing solutions for electronic invoicing and traceability, applying data analytics for risk management, as well as issues related to information security and data protection.
The parties also discussed prospects for joint expert-level consultations and thematic events with the participation of relevant departments of both sides.
The parties expressed their readiness to continue contacts and to elaborate specific proposals for further strengthening cooperation.
