Kazakhstan and Iran Reviewed Prospects for Expanding Trade and Economic Cooperation

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov held a meeting with Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Akbar Jokar.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues of Kazakhstan-Iran trade and economic cooperation, the current state and dynamics of bilateral trade, as well as prospects for expanding collaboration in logistics, transit, and investment cooperation. It was noted that in 2025, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Iran amounted to 430.2 million US dollars, marking a 26.4% increase compared to the previous year. Kazakhstan’s exports reached 239.3 million US dollars, nearly doubling from the previous year.

The parties emphasized that during the official visit of the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, to Kazakhstan on December 10-11, 2025, the heads of state set a strategic goal to increase bilateral trade turnover to 1 billion US dollars. In this context, they underlined the importance of creating stable conditions for business activities, developing transport and logistics routes, and strengthening practical cooperation between relevant authorities and the business communities of both countries.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to further advance bilateral trade and economic ties and to continue constructive dialogue aimed at strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Iran.
