Kazakhstan Participated in the Session of the UN Ad Hoc Committee on Cybercrime

Vienna, 26-30 January 2026 - The Kazakh delegation took part in a session of the Ad Hoc Committee to elaborate the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime.

The session, which brought together representatives of states, international and regional organizations, as well as institutions of the civil expert community, was devoted to the preparation of the Rules of Procedure of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime.

During the general statements, Mr. Azamat Kaliaskarov, Head of the Cybercrime Unit of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to the goals and principles of the Convention and emphasized the importance of developing balanced, transparent, and inclusive procedural rules that take into account the interests of all States Parties.

On the sidelines of the session, a meeting was held between the delegation of Kazakhstan and Mr. Glen Prichard, Chief of the Cybercrime and Technology Section of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The meeting addressed current issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and UNODC, as well as organizational and procedural matters related to the subsequent stages of the entry into force and implementation of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime.
