An extraordinary meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Crime Prevention was held under the chairmanship of Shymkent Mayor Gabit Syzdykbekov. The meeting was attended by heads of law enforcement and special agencies, maslikhat deputies, members of the Public Council, and media representatives.
During the meeting, participants discussed the current crime situation in the city, the effectiveness of preventative measures, and issues of interdepartmental cooperation in ensuring public safety.
Acting Head of the Shymkent City Police Department Arman Beisenbaev, Head of the City Department of the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Records Orken Seitov, and Deputy City Prosecutor Rashid Amirov delivered reports on the agenda items.
During the meeting, the city mayor noted that crime prevention must remain a key priority for government agencies. In light of the new Law "On Crime Prevention," he also emphasized the need to strengthen preventive measures at the local level, identify risks early, and implement a comprehensive approach.
"The primary focus should be on the early detection of offenses. Prevention is the responsibility not only of law enforcement agencies but of the entire government apparatus. This work must be systematic and ongoing," noted Gabit Syzdykbekov.
The mayor also emphasized the need to strengthen efforts to prevent serious crimes, including juvenile suicide.
"Unfortunately, such tragic incidents do occur, and this cannot be denied. Their prevention is the responsibility not only of law enforcement agencies but of society as a whole. At home, it's parents, at school, it's teachers, and on the streets, every citizen bears responsibility. Therefore, it's necessary to conduct extensive information and awareness campaigns across all sectors. Strengthening prevention is especially important," the city mayor emphasized.
Following the meeting, the city mayor issued a number of specific instructions to those responsible. Law enforcement agencies and district mayors were instructed to establish a systematic, collaborative, and coordinated approach.
