Police Major Sulushash Dosbolova, Senior Detective of the Almaty City Police Department's Drug Crime Control Department, reported on ongoing preventative work to prevent drug addiction and drug-related offenses at a briefing with the Regional Communications Service. This work is being carried out within the framework of the "Law and Order" ideology and is aimed at stabilizing the drug situation in the city.
As the speaker noted, since the beginning of the year, 135 preventive events—forums, seminars, lectures, and events—have been held in Almaty's educational institutions. These events were organized jointly with police departments, government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and volunteers.
"Special attention is being paid to information and outreach efforts. 230 anti-drug materials have been published on media platforms," noted Sulushash Dosbolova.
Social videos are being broadcast on 42 monitors in the metro and on 131 LED screens across the city, as well as on LED screens at gas stations, with information about an anonymous helpline.
Additionally, 80 billboards featuring famous athletes under the slogan "Don't let the virus get to you!" have been placed in various areas of the city, strengthening preventative work among young people and adolescents.
According to the police major, special attention is being paid to preventing drug-related crimes among minors.
Overall, the work being carried out is aimed at preventing citizens from becoming involved in illegal drug trafficking and developing sustainable public immunity to drug-related crime.
