The situation on the banks of the Badam River is stable. There is no threat of flooding.
To reduce the risk of flooding on the river, which often rises in the spring, 5.3 kilometers of embankment were reinforced last year and were fully completed in December. 2.7 billion tenge was allocated for this work.
According to the Urban Environment Development Department, the riverbed near the settlements of Igilik, Zhanatalap, and Kokbulak has been regulated and the banks have been concreted. However, unknown individuals have illegally excavated stones from the riverbed, damaging the hydraulic engineering structure.
— As a result of illegal actions, about 40 meters of the concrete dam were damaged. Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the perpetrators, — said the head of the department, Abulkhair Ongar.
According to experts, the damaged part will be restored at the expense of the contractor company. The project has a warranty period of 7 years.
