The results of the January 2026 UNT (Unified National Testing Center) of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan were announced. Approximately 184,000 applicants participated nationwide, including over 26,000 in Almaty. Most graduates successfully passed the threshold score, and all results and certificates are now available in their personal accounts. Zhumabike Sultanova, head of the Almaty branch of the National Testing Center of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, spoke about the preparations and results of the 2026 UNT (Unified National Testing Center) at a press conference hosted by the Almaty Regional Communications Service.
According to the National Testing Center, 75% of participants in the January UNT in Kazakhstan took the test in Kazakh, 25% in Russian, and another 113 chose English. 68% of applicants met the threshold, with an average score of 64 and a maximum of 138. The most popular subject combination was "Mathematics-Physics," chosen by 19.2% of participants. "Biology-Chemistry" came in second with 16.8%, and the "Creative Exam" rounded out the top three with 9.8%.
"The January UNT traditionally allows applicants to assess their level of preparation and prepare psychologically for the main testing. We see consistent results and informed subject selection from graduates. All certificates are now available in their personal accounts, and the work of the Republican Appeals Committee is fully completed," noted Zhumabike Sultanova.
Applicants could appeal the content of test questions within 30 minutes of completion, or during the test itself if there were technical issues. Approximately 19,000 appeals were submitted, of which appeals regarding two unique test questions were upheld.
During the UNT, special attention was paid to creating comfortable conditions for applicants with special educational needs. Across the country, 446 applicants with special educational needs participated in the testing.
During the 2026 UNT (Unified National Testing) in Kazakhstan, 320 violations were recorded. A total of 198 applicants were disqualified from the test for attempting to bring smartphones, cheat sheets, and other prohibited items. Another 120 applicants were removed from classrooms for violating rules, and their results were annulled. Following a review of video recordings, the certificates of two applicants were revoked. No false positives were identified.
More than 26,000 applicants took the January 2026 UNT in Almaty. Of these, 66% took the test in Kazakh, 34% in Russian, and 33 in English. 72% of participants in the city achieved the threshold score, with an average score of 65 and a maximum of 136. Sixty-one applicants with special educational needs participated in the testing.
"In Almaty, we're seeing a fairly high percentage of students passing the threshold, which speaks to the high-quality preparation of our graduates. At the same time, compliance with the rules remains strict and consistent. All testing stages are monitored by video surveillance, and analysis of the recordings will continue until October 31," emphasized Zhumabike Sultanova.
During the UNT in Almaty, 40 violations were identified. Twenty-two people were disqualified from the test for attempting to bring prohibited items, and another 17 applicants were removed from classrooms for violating rules. Following a review of video recordings, one certificate was revoked. No evidence of fake participants was found.
Following the completion of the 2026 UNT, video recordings will continue to be analyzed nationwide until October 31 of this year. If violations or the use of prohibited items are detected, test results will be annulled.
