The Ambassador met with Shukhrat Kadirov, Director of the Agency for Space Research and Technology under Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies

Tashkent, February 24, 2026 – A meeting was held between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Beibut Atamkulov, and the Director of the Space Research and Technology Agency under the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shukhrat Kadirov.
During the discussion, the parties reviewed current issues of cooperation in the field of space activities and the application of space technologies in support of socio-economic development. A high degree of institutionalized cooperation between the профиль (relevant) structures of the two countries was emphasized. Its outcomes are being integrated into modern governance and technological solutions, contributing to enhanced efficiency in the use of space-derived data.
Cooperation covers the development of national space infrastructure, the introduction of digital platforms, and the practical application of Earth remote sensing data in agriculture, environmental protection, urban planning, and emergency management.
The Ambassador positively assessed the plans of the Republic of Uzbekistan to train the country’s first-ever cosmonaut, underscoring the significance of this step as a strategic milestone in the development of the national space program. Kazakhstan, possessing unique experience in crewed spaceflight, views this area as a promising avenue for the exchange of expertise and the deepening of bilateral cooperation.
Particular attention was given to participation in joint regional initiatives. The Uzbek side’s work within the framework of the CubeSat small satellite project, implemented in cooperation with member states of the Organization of Turkic States, was noted. Opportunities to expand Kazakhstan–Uzbekistan cooperation in similar scientific and technical projects were also discussed.
A separate emphasis was placed on the formation of a regional cooperation model in the space sector of Central Asia, aimed at consolidating scientific and technological potential, implementing joint research, and developing inter-institutional collaboration.
Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation and maintaining regular working contacts.
