Measles is an extremely contagious viral disease that is transmitted through airborne droplets. The virus is so volatile that it can remain in the air for up to 2 hours after the patient has left the room.
Key facts:
• Symptoms: The disease begins as an acute respiratory infection, characterized by a high fever (up to 38.5-40°C), dry cough, runny nose, and conjunctivitis (red, watery eyes).
• Rash: Appears on days 3-5. It occurs in stages: first on the face and behind the ears, then on the torso, and finally on the arms and legs.
• Danger: Severe complications such as pneumonia, brain damage (encephalitis), blindness, and deafness are possible.
• Prevention: Vaccination is the only reliable way to protect yourself. Vaccinations are scheduled at 12 months and 6 years of age.

In 2025-2026, many countries, including the United States, Europe, and Kazakhstan, have experienced outbreaks due to a decrease in herd immunity. Currently, there are no reported cases of measles in our area. This presents an important opportunity for vaccination. It is crucial to build strong immunity in children during this period of epidemiological stability, rather than waiting for an outbreak to occur. Remember that it takes time for the body to develop effective protection after vaccination.
According to the decree of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 3 dated February 19, 2026, additional mass immunization against measles, rubella, and mumps has been launched:

  1. children aged 6 months to 10 months and 29 days before
the stabilization of the epidemiological situation on measles,
    2. children aged 2 to 5 years
unvaccinated in accordance with the National Immunization Schedule of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
    3. children aged 7 to 18 years
unvaccinated in accordance with the National Immunization Schedule,
    4. medical workers and employees of healthcare organizations under the age of 30 who are not vaccinated, do not have vaccination data, and have not been vaccinated during previous additional mass immunizations against this infection.

To receive preventive vaccinations against measles, rubella, and mumps, you should contact the Mendykara District Hospital or the local medical center. Vaccination is performed after obtaining the informed consent of the parent (legal representative).
Vaccination is not just a medical procedure, but the only way to guarantee the protection of your child from the severe consequences of measles. Your decision today will ensure the health and safety of your child tomorrow.
