Ljubljana, June 16, 2026 – An impromptu concert by the Kazakh folklore ensembles «Qagan» and «Yassy» from Shymkent city took place in the heart of the Slovenian capital. It was the first performance by Kazakh groups in Ljubljana since the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Slovenia.

The event, organized by the Embassy with the support of the Akimat of Shymkent city and the Ljubljana City Hall, became one of the most vibrant cultural events of the summer season in the Slovenian capital and made an important contribution to the development of humanitarian and cultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and Slovenia.

The central square of Ljubljana was filled with the melodies of the Great Steppe. The sounds of the dombyra, kobyz, dauylpaz, and other national instruments, traditional compositions, and colorful national costumes of the musical and dance ensembles created a unique atmosphere, allowing residents and visitors to experience the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of the Kazakh people.

The concert generated genuine interest among the Slovenian public, numerous foreign tourists visiting Ljubljana, and members of the Kazakh diaspora living in Slovenia. Many Slovenian audience members were introduced for the first time to Kazakhstan's musical traditions, its distinctive culture, and centuries-old history, reflecting the spirit of the Great Steppe, its openness, and unique diversity.

The concert in the heart of Ljubljana became part of the promotion in Slovenia of modern Kazakhstan, the heir to a great civilization – the Golden Horde, whose traditions of statehood, cultural diversity and open interaction between peoples continue to be reflected in the modern Kazakh identity and cultural diplomacy of the country, as stated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym–Jomart Tokayev.

The performance by the «Qagan» and «Yassy» ensembles became a striking symbol of the strengthening of Kazakh-Slovenian relations and a clear demonstration that culture and art remain the universal language of mutual understanding and friendship. Such initiatives not only reveal Kazakhstan's rich heritage to foreign audiences but also create new opportunities for expanding humanitarian contacts, strengthening intercultural dialogue, and further rapprochement between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Slovenia.
