160 years: Alikhan Bukeikhanov

This year marks the 160th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Kazakh statesman and public figure Alikhan Bukeikhanov.
Bukeikhanov entered history as one of the leaders of the Kazakh national movement in the early 20th century, as well as a politician, scholar, publicist, and thinker. He played a key role in shaping modern Kazakh political thought and the idea of national self-governance.
He was one of the founders and leaders of the Alash Orda movement, established in 1917, and headed the government of the Alash autonomy. He strongly advocated for the development of education and science, economic independence, and the political rights of the Kazakh people.
Bukeikhanov was also actively engaged in academic and public activities, writing numerous articles on economics, history, ethnography, and the development of the steppe region.
He dedicated his life to serving his people, promoting the ideas of education, modernization, and political development. His work became an important part of the history of the struggle for the rights and future of the Kazakh people.
Today, his name holds a special place in the history of Kazakhstan, and his legacy continues to inspire new generations.
